The Feast of St. Gregory and Recapte Day is celebrated on the Monday closest to the 9th of May. This saint, considered the protector of harmful animals, is a co-patron saint of La Sénia.
The feast day is in fulfilment of the vow made by the town as a result of the locust plague that devastated the region in the second half of the 17th century.
In the beginning, it was typical to dance a processional dance with dolçaina and drum music, but for more than thirty years, the Town Council has been organising a popular meal offering the two most typical gastronomic samples of the town, the recapte pot and the pastisset (pumpkin cake), recalling the distribution of food among the poor and beggars in times gone by.
