La Sénia Town Council has completed the project to replace the vinyl aircraft profiles installed at the airfield with new panels made of Dibond material, an initiative that improves the visual quality, durability and overall image of this heritage site in the municipality.
The aeroplane profiles, acquired at the time by the council with the aim of decorating and contextualising the space of the former military airfield, have an interpretative and informative function and have contributed to reinforcing the explanatory discourse of the site over the years.
Continued exposure to inclement weather had caused progressive deterioration of the vinyl used to decorate the profiles, affecting their legibility and the aesthetics of the ensemble. In view of this situation, the council has opted to replace them with Dibond panels, a material particularly suitable for outdoor use, with high resistance to sun, rain and wind, and high-quality printing.
The new panels offer a clearer, more stable and professional image, which improves the visitor experience and reinforces the interpretative value of the Airfield.
This project is part of the ongoing efforts by La Sénia Town Council to maintain and promote its historical heritage, and has received financial support from the Democratic Memorial of Catalonia. The total cost of the project was €5,291.67, of which €3,386.66 was subsidised.
With this renovation, La Sénia Airfield continues to improve its museum facilities and consolidate its role as a place of remembrance, education and tourist interest.
